Recently the church office received a phone call from a stranger. The voice on the other end of the line wanted to know, "Is this the storytelling church?"
More and more, being known as "the storytelling church" is an identity that we are embracing with enthusiasm. After all, storytelling is the primary way that Jesus taught, built community and transformed lives. The gospel of Matthew tells us that "He (Jesus) said nothing to them without parables" (Matthew 13:03). If it was good enough for Jesus, it ought to be good enough for us.
Community Christian Church offers A SAFE PLACE TO TELL OUR STORIES. All God's children have a story to tell. All God's children deserve a compassionate, non-judgmental, listening ear. Some of the stories we tell are stories of brokenness and loss. Others are stories of joy and accomplishment. Life is a comedy. Life is a tragedy. Most of all, life is an epiphany---listen close enough and you'll hear the heartbeat of God.
Community Christian Church is a place where OUR STORIES ARE MET AND TRANSFORMED BY THE STORY OF GOD'S LOVE. In the center of the church there is a "crossroads"---a place of meeting between each of us (all of us) and the life-giving power of God's love. When our stories meet God's story....
